A while back, I was browsing the shelves at Family Christian for a new Bible for my son’s birthday. When I visit a book store, I am always curious about which books catch the attention of the people who stock and sell them for a living.
When I asked one of the employees what she was reading, she broke into the best impromptu book review I have ever heard –absolutely raving about Lysa TerkHurst’s new book, The Best Yes: Making Wise Decisions in the Midst of Endless Demands.
In the first pages of her book, Lysa writes:
“I don’t want to miss out on opportunities, mess up relationships by disappointing people, or misstep right out of God’s will. I struggle with keeping some sense of balance in my life. I struggle with worrying about what others think of my decisions. I struggle with wondering if my inability to do it all will make my kids wind up on a therapist’s couch one day…I struggle with feeling like I’m going to let God down… I’m tired. I’m distracted. I’m disappointed in myself. I feel slightly used and more than slightly used up. I’m a little overwhelmed and a lot worn down.”
Let’s get a handle on this, sisters.
Let’s read this book together and then talk about what we’ve learned.
