The Jesus Center
Located in Chico, the Jesus Center provides respite from the rigors of street living, providing food and shelter in a supportive environment for all those needing services. Hot meals, showers, employment assistance, and Bible study are provided free of charge. The Jesus Center also provides shelter for homeless women at the Sabbath House, House of Hope, and Myrtle House, and provides job training opportunities through management of a Community Farm, which provides produce for the Jesus Center meals and to local residents through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. The Bloomin’ Hope flower cart also provides job training for women who need a first step toward self-sufficiency. For more information visit: www.jesuscenter.org close
Esplanade House
Esplanade House is a transitional housing program designed specifically for homeless families with children. The Esplanade House safe and sober campus includes 60 apartments. The majority of parents living at Esplanade House are recovering from a lifestyle of poverty and addiction. Many had lost their children to a relative or Foster Care and were reunited because of the safe and supportive environment Esplanade House provides. When accepted into the program, families are given everything they need to start over: a furnished apartment, food, clothes, supplies, case manager, and counselor. We support Esplanade House by providing their families with practical support and encouragement. For more information visit the Esplanade House www.esplanadehousechico.com/home close
Torres Shelter
The Torres Community Shelter is a local 140-bed homeless shelter that serves men, women, and families with children. In addition to providing overnight shelter, showers, and an evening meal, they also provide employment readiness and search services and referrals to transitional housing programs and support services that help get homeless people back on their feet. We come alongside the Torres Shelter staff to provide meal service, help out with routine housekeeping tasks, and support their fundraising efforts.
